The Legend of WENDIGO

He is old. Ancient. He is coming to take possession of you

The Wendigo is a demonic creature from the Native American culture since ancient times of the Ojibwa, Cree and Saulteaux in Canada.

European settlers and missionaries also reported on allegedly possessed people in the early 19th century.

Algernon Blackwood (1869-1951), English author, describes the Wendigo in his book as a malicious spirit that lives in dark forests or abandoned cemeteries (Pet Sematary book - Stephen King).

It is said to persistently and persistently pursue hunters, fishermen and hikers into the dark, attack them, eat them or simply drive them insane.

The Wendigo's victims, driven to madness, are not allowed to find peace until they themselves become cannibals and, after complete transformation, end up being a Wendigo themselves.

The Indians were so afraid of the spirit of the Wendigo that allegedly possessed tribe members were killed.

As a deterrent, one could also combat cannibalism and greed in the terrible times of famine.
